What is an addiction?

Addiction occurs when an individual experiences a compulsive need to continue using substances or engaging in certain behaviors, despite the negative impact it may have on their physical, mental, or social well-being. It may manifest in difficulties managing daily life, relationship problems, and an increasing need to use substances or repeat behaviors. Addiction can also involve withdrawal symptoms, such as anxiety or insomnia, and it can be difficult to break free from it on one's own.

However, recovery is possible. The right support and treatment can help individuals find a way out of the cycle of addiction.
